At Vocational Solutions of Henderson County, providing job training to adults with disabilities is the focus of our nonprofit organization. Participants have access to the following programs:
- Vocational evaluation—Participants start with a comprehensive evaluation of their physical, mental, emotional, and social abilities, limitations, and work tolerances to assess their current and future employment potential. The main goal is to create a vocational profile to assist individuals with knowledge of their vocational interest, assets, and liabilities.
- Work adjustment—This treatment/training process relies on individual and group work-related activities to enable an individual to progress towards competitive employment. When participants complete their work adjustment goals identified as barriers to employment, they are referred to a job coach for job development, training and placement. The primary purpose of the job coach is to match participants with employment that complements their interests and abilities.
- Supported employment—This program provides assistance to severely disabled individuals who require intensive training and long-term support to obtain and maintain employment that is not time-limited. We contract for these services through the NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
