Are you or your loved one interested in participating in fun learning experiences that help to increase your independence?
Whether it is socialization, pre-vocational or volunteer activities, our Direct Care Services are designed to help individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities develop, improve, and maintain their independence.
NC Innovations
NC Innovations is a special Medicaid program started in 1983 to serve individuals who would otherwise require care in an intermediate care facility for people with the intellectual/developmental disabilities. It allows these individuals the opportunity to be served in the community instead of residing in an institutional or group home setting. Vocational Solutions is authorized by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to provide Day Support Services covered under the NC Innovations waiver.
Day Supports-Pre-Vocational Training Program
This program focuses on pre-vocational training to improve skills necessary to be considered for competitive employment. Training activities occur in a structured vocational environment and are individualized based on the Person Centered Plan. Vocational Solutions offers both Individual and Group services. Group ratios are generally 3-4 consumers to one Direct Care Associate. In addition to pre-vocational training, participants also have the opportunity to engage in activities that promote daily living, self-help, and social skills. Community inclusive activities are offered on a weekly basis. Activities include educational tours, shopping, dining, and wilderness exploration.
Day Supports-Day Activity Program
This program focuses on the interest and abilities of consumers with significant intellectual/developmental disabilities who are not interested or able to pursue pre-vocational training activities. The program is designed to assist individuals in reaching their fullest potential through the achievement of personal outcomes in their Person Centered Plan. Direct Care Associates assist participants with the development, acquisition, and retention of daily living, self-help, socialization, and adaptive learning skills. Participants also have the opportunity to participate in community inclusive activities on a monthly basis.
Developmental Therapy(DT), Personal Care(PC), And Personal Assistance (PA)
DT/PC/PA are state funded direct care services provided to participants who are not eligible for NC Innovations services. Similar to Day Supports, training occurs individually or in a small group setting. Consumers who are authorized for these services may also be eligible to participate in the ADVP program.
