Creating meaningful employment opportunities for those with disabilities is what we do at Vocational Solutions of Henderson County. To us, assisting with disabilities means helping those with barriers to employment improve their skills and enhance their capabilities to obtain and maintain ongoing work.
We provide two main programs that involve assisting with disabilities:
- Supported employment program—Many people with disabilities want to work, but they need additional support to maintain employment. Through our supported employment program, we offer ongoing assistance for severely disabled individuals and provide any needed intensive training. We contract for these services through the NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
- Work adjustment program—Through our work adjustment program, we use individual and group work-related activities to help participants work towards competitive employment. We refer participants to a Work Adjustment Job Coach who then provides individualized job development, training, and placement. The main purpose of the job coach is to help the participant obtain employment that matches their interests and abilities.
Our vocational programs would not be possible without the participation of local businesses in East Flat Rock, North Carolina and the surrounding area. Participating businesses receive cost-effective, quality labor outsourcing solutions, and in turn, this provides meaningful jobs for people with disabilities in our programs.
